Rio+20 Regional Science and Technology Workshop for Africa

30 May - 01 June 2011, Pretoria, South Africa

Report and recommendations:

The workshop provided a platform for African natural scientists, social scientists and engineers to prepare joint positions and concerted input for the Rio+20 process. The outcomes of the workshop were presented at the intergovernmental Rio+20 Regional Preparatory of Meeting for Africa, 20-25 October 2011, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

This workshop was organised by the ICSU Regional Office for Africa in collaboration with UNESCO Regional Office for Africa, and in partnership with the Applied Centre for Climate and Earth Systems Science (ACCESS), with the support of Government Departments in South Africa.

This is one of five Rio+20 regional science and technology workshops being organised by ICSU and UNESCO. Other partners at the global level are the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO) and the International Social Sciences Council (ISSC).
