Zero draft meeting

Initial discussions on the zero draft of outcome document

25-27 January 2012, New York, US

Governments, UN agencies and Major Groups met for Initial discussions on the zero draft of outcome document.

The zero draft of the outcome document for Rio+20 was developed by the UN from the inputs received from governments, UN agencies and Major Groups (see the Compilation Document which shows all of these inputs).

The Zero draft of the outcome document will now form the basis for negotatiations at Rio+20.

ICSU gave a statement on the zero draft at the meeting, arguing for greater ambition and concrete targets in the document, and proposing extra text on coordinating and supporting science and technology. ICSU will now work to encourage governments to include our proposed changes in wording to the zero draft.
