The Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (MASA), founded in 1973 (1950), is the supreme institution in the field of sciences and arts in the Republic of Montenegro. MASA strives for freedom of scientific and artistic creativity; organizes, initiates and implements the scientific research, by itself or in cooperation with other scientific institutions; organizes scientific meetings, symposia, scientific speakers' platforms, scientific debates, consultations and exhibitions; issues publications in the field of science and arts and maintains collaboration with academies and scientific institutions in other countries. MASA has 41 members (28 full and 13 corresponding members) in the working body of the Academy and there are 17 foreign members. It also acts through 24 committees and councils including over 300 scientists and scholars.
