The Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska was created in 1995 and is charged with fostering the development of science and art, cherishing and promoting the culture, spirit and creative potentials of its people, encouraging the study of significant problems in the field of science and art, and making sure that scientific information is treated as an important strategic resource. It coordinates research in all fields of scholarly activity, organizing scientific conferences, forums, round table disccusions, etc.
The Academy’s work is carried out in four departments: Social Sciences, Literature and Art, Medical Sciences and Natural, Mathematical and Technical Sciences.
