Call for Nominations for the Scientific Committee for the Urban Health and Wellbeing programme

The sponsors of the programme are looking to replace three outgoing members of the Scientific Committee for the programme. Nominations are due by 15 March 2017.

The programme "Health and Wellbeing in the Changing Urban Environment: a Systems Analysis Approach," co-sponsored by the International Council for Science (ICSU), the InterAcademy Panel (IAP), and the United Nations University (UNU), brings together leading global researchers working in disciplines related to urban health and wellbeing to define the strategic and thematic priorities and the medium- and long-term outcomes and activities of the programme. The Scientific Committee is charged with guiding and overseeing the implementation of the science plan.

On behalf of the cosponsors, we invite nominations for individuals to serve on this Committee. With the replacement of outgoing members, three members are being sought. The term of office is three years, starting 1 June 2017 and potentially renewable once. The Programme meets twice per year, normally for 2 days, once in Paris and once at the host institution. Occasionally, Committee members may be asked to participate in scientific meetings co-sponsored by the Programme. Some work is also carried out between meetings and Committee members may be asked to contribute to specific working or review groups. Expenses for travel (Economy) and accommodation for all meetings are covered by the Programme. See also the Committee's terms of reference.

The main criterion for selection, by the Committee on Scientific Planning and Review (CSPR) is scientific expertise, from a range of disciplines covering natural, social, behavioural and health sciences as well as areas such as environmental health, urban planning and engineering. Expertise in complex systems analysis and multi-factorial modelling will also be important and experience and willingness to work with a very interdisciplinary group will be critical. As for all ICSU committees, gender and geographic balance will also be taken into account.

All nominations should be submitted on this template to Dr. Franz Gatzweiler franz@iue.ac.cn, or gatzweiler02@gmail.com by 15 March 2017.
