Visit CONICET

From 18-20 June, 2012 Kerstin Schmidt-Verkerk visited the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) of Argentina in Buenos Aires.

CONICET Argentina  has been a National Member of ICSU since 1931. Furthermore, Arturo J. Martínez, Head of Global Programs at CONICET, has been a member of the ICSU Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean since 2010. The main objective of the visit was the planning of the Regional Workshop on Disaster Risk Management in Latin America and the Caribbean, which will take place from 3-5 September, 2012 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This workshop is co-organized by the ICSU/ISSC/ISDR Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) programme, the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Council for Science (ICSU ROLAC) and CONICET Argentina.

The project was awarded a 2012 ICSU grant in the context of the ICSU grants programme.
