Meeting with GIZ representative from Guatemala

On 16 March, 2012 Manuel Limonta and Kerstin Schmidt-Verkerk met Peter Richter from the GIZ office in Guatemala in Mexico City.

Peter Richter is the director of the project “Fomento a la Integración Comercial, Sostenible Social y Ecologicamente en Centro America SIECA GIZ”  This project is a collaboration between the German Association for International Cooperation GIZ and the Secretariat of Economic Integration of Central America (SIECA).

 

The objective of the meeting was to discuss a potential collaboration between ICSU ROLAC and GIZ in the field of ICSU ROLAC´s priority area biodiversity and particularly in the area of Access-Benefit Sharing (ABS) of biological and genetic resources. The ICSU Committee on Freedom and Responsibility in the conduct of Science (CFRS), in collaboration with the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT),  had organized the workshop "Access to Genetic Resources and Sharing Benefits Arising from Their Utilization (ABS) in May 2011.
