Third Meeting of CIDI in Panama City

ICSU ROLAC participated at the Third Meeting of Ministers and authorities on Science and Technology in the Framework of CIDI in Panama City, 17-18 November 2011.

The Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) is an Organization of American States (OAS) body which reports directly  to the General Assembly, with decision making power in matters of partnership for integral development.

The purpose of CIDI is to promote cooperation among its Member States for the enhancement of their integral development and, in particular, to help eliminate extreme poverty.

During the Third Meeting of Ministers, the countries of the Americas adopted the "Plan of Action of Panama", by which they commit to work together to achieve by 2025 a series of goals in the areas of science, technology and innovation.

Kerstin Schmidt-Verkerk represented ICSU ROLAC during this meeting to discuss the potential role of ICSU in this process.
