Creating new bonds with OLADE

On May 11th 2011 Décio Gazzoni visited the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) in Quito, Ecuador.

Decio held a meeting with  Fernando Ferreira, Integration Director at OLADE,  and  Eduardo Noboa, Renewable Energy and Environmental Coordinator at OLADE, in the context of the ICSU Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Sustainable Energy Project for the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB).

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss topics of common interest and to establish a new regional network for the ICSU ROLAC scientific priority area Sustainable Energy.

In this context, OLADE assured their full support for a project proposal on renewable energy and energy efficiency, prepared by a group of experts from our region. Eduardo Noboa is already implementing projects in cooperation with the IADB on sustainable energy, one of them is the Observatory of Renewable Energies launched in Uruguay by the United Nations.

The objectives of this project are similar to those of the IADB Project on Sustainable Energy. The meeting resulted in the creation of new bonds for a future mutual collaboration. It was stressed that many synergies exist between the ICSU LAC/IADB Sustainable Energy Project and the OLADE.
