The ICSU Regional Office for Latin America & the Caribbean (ICSU ROLAC) is a regional arm of a global organisation, which is reflected in this ICSU ROLAC website being part of the ICSU global website. This ROLAC website is a tool to connect the wider ICSU scientific community to scientists, policy makers, and the public in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our aim is to promote the three pillars of ICSU at the regional level: International Research Collaboration, Science for Policy and Universality of Science.

Rio+20

The Rio+20 conference will take place from 20-22 June 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. ICSU represents the international scientific community in this process.

ICSU ROLAC Scientific Priority Areas: Science Plans available in English and Spanish Dec 02, 2011
In 2011, the four documents relating to the ICSU ROLAC priority areas biodiversity, natural hazards, sustainable energy and mathematics education were printed in English and Spanish, thanks to the generous support of CONACYT Mexico.
Changes to the composition of RCLAC Nov 11, 2011
During its 10th Meeting in Rome, Italy in September 2011, several changes to the composition of the ICSU Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean (RCLAC) were announced.
Recommendations: ICSU-UNESCO Rio+20 Regional Science and Technology Workshop for Latin America and the Caribbean Aug 30, 2011
The recommendations from the workshop have now been finalised. The recommendations address the main themes of Rio+20: green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication; the institutional framework for sustainable development; and new and emerging challenges.
Inauguration ICSU ROLAC in Mexico City Aug 12, 2011
On 1st March 2011, the ICSU Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) was officially inaugurated in Mexico City at the Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC).
