150th Anniversary of the Cuban Academy of Sciences
The Cuban Academy of Sciences had invited Manuel Limonta, in his functions as member of the Academy and director of ICSU ROLAC, to participate in the celebrations of its 150th anniversary in Havana, Cuba from 16-20 May, 2011. During the event, the Regional Director attended several meetings, activities and celebrations related to the Cuban Academy of Sciences.
The Cuban Academy of Sciences celebrated its 150th anniversary from 16 to 20 May, 2011. The ICSU Executive Board held its 104th Meeting in Havana, Cuba from 17-18 May, 2011, followed by a workshop on the role of Academies in Regional Scientific Cooperation on 19 May. In the evening of 19 May, the ICSU Executive Board celebrated the Anniversary of the Academy.
During the event, participants discussed their role in local capacity building in the LAC region, how they could coordinate efforts towards common goals, and the role of Academies of Sciences in those efforts.
