CSPR meeting in Paris, France

From 30th to 31st March 2011, Mahabir Gupta and Kerstin Schmidt-Verkerk attended the 21st meeting of ICSU's Committee on Scientific Planning and Review (CSPR) in Paris, France.

One of the agenda items was the final report on the review of ICSU’s regional offices, which resulted in recommendations regarding the role that the regional offices can play with respect to the integration of science and scientists into ICSU in their respective regions. The meeting was followed by a Foresight Workshop on 1st April 2011, in which ideas about the future role of ICSU and science in general for society was discussed.

The Committee on Scientific Planning and Review (CSPR) coordinates the development of proposals for major new scientific initiatives by ICSU and advises the ICSU Executive Board (EB) on priorities for such initiatives. The Committee also reviews the activities carried out by ICSU’s Interdisciplinary Bodies, and Regional Offices and advises the EB on the future course of these activities, and oversees the ICSU Grants Programme.
