Introducing New ICSU Regional Office for Africa Director

ICSU and National Research Foundation of the Republic of South Africa are pleased to announce that Dr Edith Madela-Mntla has been appointed Director: ICSU Regional Office for Africa with effect from 01 January 2011.

Dr Edith Madela - Mntla

Dr Madela-Mntla was previously employed at the Medical Research Council as Executive Manager for Human Capital Management and Development since 2005. Her background is in Health Research including a PhD in Mental Health Nursing, a Diploma in Health Outcomes Research, as well as Advanced Health Management. Dr Madela-Mntla also has training in areas of Management including the Senior Management Development Programme (SMDP). She is a steering committee member of the Initiative for Strengthening Health Research Capacity in Africa (ISHReCA), representing the Southern Africa Anglophone region since 2007. She also serves in the National Health Research Committee and the Clinical Trials Committee of the National Department of Health. She has served as a reviewer for various multinational grants organisations. We welcome Dr Madela-Mntla to the ICSU family and wish her well for the future.
