The theme for the second session of the Committee on Development Information Science and Technology (CODIST-II) of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is: Innovation for Africa’s industrial development. ICSU ROA and ECA are partnering in a number of joint projects.

The International YWP (Young Water Professionals) programme was initially created to counteract a perceived loss of knowledge brought about by the impending retirement of many leaders in the water industry. the YWP programme provided a range of activities, services and initiatives to young professionals and student in the water and wastewater sectors. The programme connects with employers, academic institutions and other professional associations to ensure that the future needs of the sector are understood and addressed and that inter-generations dialogue is created to form links between senior professionals of the sector and the incoming young professionals.

The workshop was organised in partnership with the Applied Centre for Climate and Earth Systems Science (ACCESS), and with the support of Government Departments in South Africa.

Call for Proposals: Climate Change and Water Program Sep 01, 2011 from 05:15 PM to 07:15 PM
The International Development Research Centre's Climate Change and Water Program is pleased to launch the call for proposals for its graduate research awards entittled "Adaptation H20". Adaptation H20 aims to promote important research on the water related impacts of climate change as well as to build the capacity of students working in this field.

Dr Achuo Andrew Enow Leaving ICSU ROA
Dr Achuo A Enow will be leaving ICSU ROA at the end of November 2011 to join one of the Units of the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa. As you might know, he is the longest serving member at ICSU ROA, having joined the Regional Office as a Programme Specialist for Biological Sciences in March 2006, just a few months after the launching of the Office in September 2005.
ICSU ROA 2010/11 Annual Report
The ICSU ROA 2010/11 Annual Report focuses on progress made on the implementation of ROA Science Plans, Scientific Collaboration and Networking, Publications and General Communication, Capacity Building, The African Diaspora Project, and Strategic Partnerships.
ICSU RO Project Proposal Workshop
The International Council for Science (ICSU) Regional Office for Africa (ROA) re-launched the implementation of its science plans on Sustainable Energy and on Natural and Human-induced Hazards and Disasters through a change of approach. The approach is to establish thematic international research consortia to develop project proposals from the science plans and submit to identified funders. To this effect, ICSU ROA organised a workshop on 22-23 March 2012 in Pretoria, South Africa, to concretise the formation of consortia and to plan the way forward with the planned project proposals. The workshop was held at Leriba Lodge in Pretoria, South Africa.
