- The World Science Forum (WSF) is an event initiated and organized by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in co-operation with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Council for Science (ICSU). Over its short history of four conferences it has earned itself a reputation of being one of the most widely recognized meeting of stakeholders of knowledge including scientists and science policy makers. The Fifth World Science Forum will take place in Budapest on 17-19 November 2011. As the main theme of the Forum “The Changing Landscape of Science: Challenges and Opportunities” suggests, it aims to discuss the current predominant trends in the world of science. The speakers of the forum will demonstrate how new global challenges create new scientific fields and how new scientific powers arise. The involvement of Brazil as co-organizer of the 2011 event also reflects the commitment of the organizers to emphasize the global nature of the World Science Forum.
