The Royal Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (RONAST) was established in 1982 by a Royal Ordinance as an independent apex body for the promotion of Science and Technology in the country. The autonomous status of RONAST was reconfirmed in 1992 following the promulgation of RONAST Act 2048 by the House of Representatives. The objectives of the Academy are: advancement of science and technology for all-round development of the nation; preservation and further modernization of indigenous technology; promotion of research in science and technology and identification and facilitation of appropriate technology transfer. It has linkages with several international scientific institutions and organizations.
