Post-ICSU GA30 African National Members and Scientific Unions Forum
An African post-ICSU GA30 Forum was held in Pretoria, South Africa from 22 to 23 November, 2012, attended by several representatives of National Members (NMs) and Scientific Unions (SUs).The Forum gave ICSU NMs and SUs in Africa an opportunity to get an update on the activities of the ICSU Regional Office for Africa. It also explored ways to foster collaborative activities between the Office and the ICSU Family on the continent.
The Forum ended with the establishment of a five-member Task Team with representation from each of the five sub-regions of the continent. This Task Team is to assist the ICSU Regional Office for Africa in implementing a number of resolutions made at the Forum. The Team is also to help strategize towards effective participation of NMs and SUs in the 31st General Assembly of ICSU to be held in New Zealand in 2014.
