ICSU ROA Project Proposal Writing Workshop: Sustainable Energy & Natural and Human-induced Hazards and Disasters: Oct 18, 2011 ICSU Regional Office for Africa re-launched the implementation of its science plans on Sustainable Energy and on Natural and Human-induced Hazards and Disasters through a change of approach. The approach is to establish thematic international research consortia to develop project proposals from the science plans and submit to identified funders. To this effect, ICSU ROA organised a workshop on 22-23 March 2012 in Pretoria, South Africa, to concretise the formation of consortia and to plan the way forward with the planned project proposals. The workshop was held in Pretoria, South Africa.

Recommendations: ICSU-UNESCO RIO+20 Regional Workshop for Africa May 15, 2012: The International Council for Science Regional Office for Africa (ICSU ROA) and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Nairobi Office organised the RIO+20 Regional Workshop for Africa from the 30th of May to 1st of June 2011, Pretoria, South Africa. 12th ICSU Regional Committee for Africa Meeting May 09, 2012: The 12th RCA Meeting was held on 2-5 March 2012 in Abidjan, Cote d'lvoire. The Meeting was attended by full compliment of the Committee as well as ICSU Regional Office for Africa Staff.
ICSU ROA Appoints New Programme Specialist: Biological Sciences May 09, 2012: ICSU Regional Office for Africa and the National Research Foundation of South Africa, as the host instituion of ICSU ROA, are pleased to announce that Dr Richard L.K. Glover has been appointed Programme Specialist in Biological Sciences with effect from 01 June 2012.
