- ICSU ROA Chemistry Book Published
- Dec 12, 2012 The second ICSU ROA book tittled "Chemistry for Sustainable Development in Africa" has been published end of July 2012. The book provides an analytical platform to bring the application of chemistry closer to the society and to showcase some of the work done by scientists on the African continent.

- An African Regional Implementation Workshop on Hazards and Disasters workshop was held at Dakar, Senegal from 26-27 September, 2012. The workshop was attended by leading hazards and disasters experts from the African and other regions of the globe. Representatives from regional hazards and disasters initiatives/organisations and some funding agencies were also in attendance.

- An African post-ICSU GA30 Forum was held in Pretoria, South Africa from 22 to 23 November, 2012, attended by several representatives of National Members (NMs) and Scientific Unions (SUs).The Forum gave ICSU NMs and SUs in Africa an opportunity to get an update on the activities of the ICSU Regional Office for Africa. It also explored ways to foster collaborative activities between the Office and the ICSU Family on the continent.

- The International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG/AIG) offers a number of grants for YOUNG GEOMORPHOLOGISTS (under 35 yrs old) who are willing to take part in the 8th International Conference on Geomorphology (Paris, France, 27-31 August 2012). The grants are offered to Young Geomorphologists from less-favoured countries worldwide.
