The World Science Forum, organised by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in partnership with UNESCO and ICSU, took place in Budapest on 5–7 November 2009. The Forum focused on ‘Knowledge and Future’ and looked toward a strategic vision of the future of science in the global society of the 21st century.
This was the fourth World Science Forum and marked the tenth anniversary of the first World Conference on Science, which was also held in Budapest. The themes of the previous forums were ‘Knowledge and Society’, ‘Knowledge, Ethics and Responsibility’ and ‘Knowledge: Investing in the Future’.
