Welcome to the press room of the 29th General Assembly (GA) of the International Council for Science (ICSU). The GA will take place in Maputo, Mozambique, 21-24 October 2008 – the first time an ICSU GA will be held in sub-Saharan Africa.

The GA is hosted by the Scientific Research Association of Mozambique (AICIMO), under the auspices of the Government of Mozambique and in cooperation with the ICSU Regional Office for Africa.

Information and press releases will be added in the lead-up to, and during, the event. Spokespeople are available for interview by arrangement. There will also be a press conference on Thursday 23 October.

Please note: the General Assembly is a closed event, open only to members of the ICSU family. However, the media are welcome to attend as observers and are invited to the press conference.

The official language of the GA is English. However, a Portuguese translator will be available at the press conference, and all press releases and bios of spokespeople will be available in English, French and Portuguese.
