ICSU-TWAS-UNESCO-UNU/IAS Visiting Scientist Programme

This programme provided institutions and research groups in the least developed countries, particularly those with limited international contacts, with the opportunity to establish long-term links with leading scientists worldwide and so help develop ed capacity-building in their country.

The programme was jointly sponsored by ICSU, the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) , The United Nations University’s Institute for Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) and UNESCO and was managed by TWAS. It provided travel support for short-term visits by senior scientists to institutions in developing countries, particularly those located in Least Developed Countries (LDCs). With the exception of mathematics and physics, which were covered by specific schemes (ICTP).
